Although Alex Smith has returned from Miami without a contract in hand, there is always the chance he decides Miami is in fact the best place for him. While I do think Smith ends up returning to San Francisco, anything is possible. Which makes this latest tweet all the more entertaining.
This is only a single tweet by a player, so let's not overreact. Given how on edge everybody is these days, I just wanted to mention that up front. Denise White works for the publicity firm that handles Vince Young. She sent out a tweet about VY to the Dolphins (h/t NFL Gridiron Gab) and Young retweeted with a mention of the 49ers as an alternative.
I've never been a huge Vince Young fan, although I suppose that could just be a hater hating. Honestly, the sidearm passing motion always struck me as a bad idea. While he did have some early success in his career, I just never bought in and he has regressed into a very questionable option. He backed up Michael Vick this season and actually made three starts along the way. The team went 1-2 in the starts and while he did a bit decently against the Giants, it was a rather unspectacular three-game stretch.
For now though, it's at least entertaining watching players start to fall over themselves expressing their interest in the 49ers. Even if you're disappointed in losing out on Manning, these kinds of tweets are amusing.
