The Alex Smith Watch returns for another day as things have settled down a little bit. Alex Smith returned from Miami without a contract and then things got at least a little more interesting when David Garrard signed with the Dolphins. That doesn't preclude Alex Smith from signing with Miami, but the Dolphins have to know their chances of signing him decreased when he left town without a contract. Garrard is not much of an answer, but he's a body they can throw into competition at the position.
I've got to think something has to happen fairly soon. Alex Smith knows his options at this point as most other teams are probably off the table as a destination. I suppose Washington could have a reason for interest while grooming Robert Griffin III, but does Smith really have any other options that could develop moving forward this offseason?
As we move into the a new day, I wanted to note that things have been playing a little fast and loose on the website. Since the situation is so vague right now, I won't turn site decorum back on. However, being able to swear does not entitle people to make offensive comments or attack other users. If someone says something with which you disagree, feel free to respond to them, but please try to at least provide a thoughtful response instead of the Internet equivalent of yelling at them.
We have a strong community and while not everybody is going to get along, please do your best to behave like adults. We haven't really issued many warnings the last few days, but that changes today.
