The San Francisco 49ers reportedly worked out Kent State center Chris Anzevino this week, according to Scout.com's Aaron Wilson (a great NFL follow on Twitter by the way @RavensInsider). The 49ers center depth is rather slim at the moment following the departure of Adam Snyder. Jonathan Goodwin remains the starter, but at this point Daniel Kilgore and Chase Beeler are the primary backups.
The 49ers offensive line has four of the five starters locked in, but the question then becomes what of the right guard and backup center position. My gut has been telling me the 49ers draft right guard in the first couple rounds and then work Kilgore in as the center of the future and backup all purpose interior lineman. There has been some chatter of him moving up the line and eventually converting to center.
Chase Beeler will get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot, but if the 49ers do add an interior offensive lineman early in the draft Beeler could easily be the odd man out. It will be interesting to see how many snaps he manages in the preseason.
Head past the jump to check out some video I found of Anzevino. He already has the Jim Harbaugh generic comments down pat, so that's a big step forward.
