Ted Ginn Salary: One-Year Contract Partially Guaranteed

Stay connected for news and updates

A week ago, the San Francisco 49ers announced they had re-signed wide receiver and return man Ted Ginn Jr. As is often the case, it took some time before the contract numbers leaked out. I say leaked out because nothing is ever officially released. Rather, agents and league officials provide the details to inquisitive journalists.

Ginn signed a one year contract reportedly worth $1.375 million. The deal includes a $1.2 million base salary with $500,000 full guaranteed. He also gets a $175,000 roster bonus. For a guy who is one of the best kick and punt returners in the NFL, I can live with that. He will be in the wide receiver battle through training camp, but given the recent additions and other potential additions via the draft, Ginn is likely to be pushed fairly far down the wide receiver depth chart.

The 49ers have a little bit of cap space left beyond the money set aside for their draft class. They could add an offensive lineman or safety, but part of it will likely be held up for any last second emergencies as the season approaches.
