The Goat. The Curse of the Bambino. The Madden Curse? Odds are any of you who have ever strapped on a helmet, taken to the hardwood, donned the diamond or been involved in organized sports in any fashion have experienced some sort of superstition. Whether it was you or a teammate the two are like turkey and gravy. And nobody loved to talk about turkey on Thanksgiving more than John Madden.
I have to admit: This seems to have superceded superstition with a tangible reality. The Madden Curse abides. The list of injuries to cover athletes is astounding. The coverage (ProFootballTalk, CBS Miami) this phenomenon is receiving is also insane and as 49ers fans we need to take action.
As much as we all love the coverage Patrick Willis is getting (and deservedly so) we need to follow suit with Packers Fans' passionate endeavors last year and vote against #52 to keep the curse out of San Francisco. As nutty as this sounds we need to do this. Who wants to even take a chance when you look at the list of injuries. Thanks to Willis and Co. the Niners are at the culmination of elite teams in the NFL and only getting better. Let some other team risk their star adorning the cover of the best sports game in the history of video games.
I can't wait to play the new game and am even even more excited to throw a bomb to Randy Moss or sack opposing QB's with the speed of Aldon Smith. What I have no desire to do is play a game sometime next season or have to watch our Super Bowl hopeful team without our fearless leader being on the field.
So this is a campaign to NOT Vote for Patrick Willis for the 2012 Madden Cover. Your thoughts?
