2012 NFL Draft Results: Brian Quick, Mitchell Schwartz Show Us Prospect Rankings Mean Little

Stay connected for news and updates

Day two of the 2012 NFL Draft is rolling along and we're at the quarter pole of the second round. The 49ers division rivals in St. Louis have added WR Brian Quick and CB Janoris Jenkins. Both picks have some question marks, but both also have a whole lot of talent. The Rams have one more pick this round and if they can hit on these guys, they will be in impressive shape moving forward.

Some of these early picks, as well as picks yesterday, have shown us that draft prospect rankings by independent analysts often have little real meaning compared to team draft boards. Most people had Brian Quick ranked behind guys like Stephen Hill. Cordy Glenn remains on the board even as Cal OT Mitchell Schwartz went to the Browns. This is not to say the pick is wrong, but it does show that everybody values many of these players differently.

It is worth noting that guys like Coby Fleener and Amini Silatolu are off the board. Draft crushes breaking 49ers hearts left, right and center.
