I know a lot of people were scratching their heads after the 2011 draft and during free agency last season, but HarBaalke & Company really came through with the players they picked/signed. I have every reason to believe that this year's rookies will excede our expectations too. However, I think the team really struck out by not taking Jared Crick. He's versatile: can be a 3-4 one-gap end, provide pass rush in big fronts, and even slip inside as the nose if Fangio is feeling particularly creative. The only compelling reason I saw for his fall was his injury-plagued 2011 season. He played well even after Suh left in 2010, so he doesn't seem like a flash-in-the-pan.
The 49ers missed out on bolstering the front of their defense and I believe Crick will become a dominant defensive lineman. I was very dissapointed that they didn't grab him. The fact that he fell to the 4th round made me even more pissed they didn't take him.
