Based on all the comments I've read coming out of camp, it looks like Boobie Dixon is going to be a 49er in 2012:
"I think we can look to 'Dix' to have his most productive season as a Niner. He's stepped up his preparation. He's another guy who's really matured as a player. He came in with a laser-beam focus this year." - Greg Roman
"Anthony is a 49er. The guy loves to be here. He works his tail end off every day. He's had a tremendous offseason and it's starting to show. He has worked on his body. He's got himself at a good playing weight. He's learning two positions now, fullback and running back. We're pleased with what he's doing on the offensive side and also pleased with what he brings to the table on special teams." - Trent Baalke
"They kind of had us outnumbered there," offensive coordinator Greg Roman said of the Texans. "Anthony basically was his own blocker to get us that first down."Roman came away impressed with the "physicality" of Dixon's encore in Houston, noting: "Anthony had one of his best games since I've been here. ... He needs to have another great one this week."
In addition to being an excellent special teams player, Dixon is an emotional leader on this team and a solid reserve running back that can now play FB. He's also only 24 and spent the *entire* offseason in the weight room, whereas Rock Cartwright will be 33 before the season is over. Add in concerns over Brandon Jacobs for the first couple weeks of the season and Boobie is in there. I think he has the potential to develop into a solid back -- the 'happy feet'/dancing behind the line of scrimmage can be corrected.
