WOOOOOOOOO THE REGULAR SEASON IS [ALMOST] HERE!!!!
Oh, sorry. Hey guys, I'm arodgb over from Acme Packing Company, Green Bay's SB Nation team blog. Me, and others from APC are here to answer all the questions that you might have about the Packers.
Here's some quick tidbits on the Packers...
The Packers are pretty much set at offense. The biggest question mark is our running game, which we addressed with former Bengal Cedric Benson. He's shown good burst and speed for a running back with 200 or more touches in each of the last five years. In my humble opinion, he's an upgrade over our other two running backs, James Starks and Alex Green.
We kept six receivers this year, as well as four tight ends. Unfortunately, that leaves us with seven offensive linemen. Seven. Not to mention our center, former Colt Jeff Saturday, is 37 years old, and our starting LT Marshall Newhouse has been injured for the majority of training camp. One injury on our offensive line, and suddenly the 49er's defense ends up scoring 30 points for me in my fantasy league.
Our defense still remains a work in progress. Last season, we had statistically the worst defense in the NFL in terms of Yards per Game. This year, we bolstered our defense with first round pick OLB Nick Perry, second round pick DT/DE Jerel Worthy, and 2nd round CB Casey Heyward. They've all had their moments, but I'm not expecting too much of an impact this early in the season.
Finally, let's try to keep this thread civil. I know how heated these can be, especially between two of the best teams in the NFC. Thanks, and let's hope for a fun filled, injury free game.
Also, if you don't mind dropping a couple rec's so this stays near the top for the week. Thanks.
