Golden Nuggets: 49ers 30, Packers 22; Alex Smith Outplays Aaron Rodgers

WOW! Amazing! Incredible. You couldn't start the year off any better than beating the Super Bowl favorite on the road. I am on record as saying the Niners would win this one 30-22 and David Akers would kick a 63-yard field goal. Just don't look back at any of my old posts, please. There are so many topics for discussion after yesterday's game. Alex Smith looked like a star, outplaying Aaron Rodgers in the process. The defense continued last season's ridiculously dominant form and our DBs kept Green Bay at bay for most of the game. Kyle Williams didn't make me rip my hair out while returning punts. Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, and even Colin Kaepernick churned out the yards on the ground. Randy Moss caught a TD to move into second place all-time. And Vernon Davis caught a TD before receiving a Shaq-like rejection from the goal post on his patented celebration dunk. Great game.

How bad were the referees, guys? The non-clip on the punt return for the TD. The roughing the passer call on Clay Matthews. They couldn't have done a worse job if they tried. It's going to be a long year for them (however long they're around for) and I think having this many mistakes during the weeks marquee matchup will hopefully push the League into resolving the situation by any means necessary.

As for the links. There is an absolute ton of them and I'm really not going to be able to discuss them. What I've done is break them down into sections. The first section is recaps from our various sources that we cover. So feel free to read them all or pick your favorite writer. The second section is analysis. The third section is bits and pieces. This is a grab-bag of random stuff. I tried to group like things together in here as well, such as stories regarding David Akers' record-tying field goal. The last section is videos and assorted other media, including some good GIFs for you. They make great stocking stuffers! I hope you enjoy it. I enjoyed the day like few other openers.

That wraps it up. I'm noticing that the Nuggets on the game day is a so full of links and info that it will be hard for me to review much of it. If there's something more you want from your Monday morning (or post gameday) edition of the Nuggets, let me know and I'll see what I can do to accommodate.
