6 Guys who "Jumped off the Tape"

I loved watching this game as it was a dominating performance as expected from the 49ers. These six guys really impressed me this game.

Alex Smith - I'm not going to say I was an Alex Smith hater because I've always liked him and admired his toughness, but I never thought he'd be a good NFL QB or be capable of making some of the plays he made in this game. The first touchdown pass to Davis was so impressive. Not only did he call the perfect audible at the line but he threw the kind of intermediate accurate touch pass that eluded him early in his career. His accuracy has definitely improved as well as some of the zip he's putting on passes now. I thought the talk about improved mechanics was just pre-season hyperbole, but it seems to ring true.

Anthony Davis - Davis has now quietly played two near perfect games, he had a corner blitz pickup on a play that ended up being a dropped pass to the hot read that was superb. In short, he handed Cliff Avril his ass and made him wear it as a hat.

Joe Staley - Van-Der-Red-Eyes did nothing in this game, Staley also had a WOW block late in the game where he showed his 4.7 speed to get out in space and lock up a linebacker to spring a long run. The whole O line had a fantastic game, but the two tackles really stood out.

Dashon Goldson - I'm so sick of hearing that this guy is over-rated, can't cover, ect. Football outsiders doesn't chart a statistic for "Bringing the Wood". Goldson brings it every game without getting penalties. He killed Benson last week and blew up Kevin Smith this week. He also made a nice catch from center-field. I think Goldson is under appreciated because he plays FS, but plays more like a SS. He's not Ed Reed, but Ed Reed isn't Dashon Goldson either, wrap your mind around that.

Michael Crabtree - How clutch was Crabtree? Who really expected the 49er offense to close out this game when it was 3rd and 16 on that last TD drive. I was pretty sure they'd win, but I also thought it would be on a defensive stop. As Willis would say "No Sir!". Davis got the TD grab, but Crabtree set it up with two clutch third down conversions, one of witch was all YAC!

Vernon Davis - Another game, two more TDs, flawless blocking. The BEST all around TE in the league puts in another signature performance. Almost didn't include him because this is becoming the norm for him.
