Week 1 is upon us with the Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants game on Wednesday. All I will say is this, very brief, come week 2 the Referees' leverage could be very high in negotiations with the league depending on how these replacement officials do on this opening week of the 2012 NFL Season.
If blown calls cost teams even just one victory it could impact the entire post season possibly even the time space continuum. Ok maybe just the post season. Still, JUST the post season?!
Last years playoffs had some amazingly close races. Philadelphia, Dallas, NY Jets, Tennessee, and the AFC West minus Denver all missed the playoffs by one game or less. So yes one game could mean a season for some unfortunate team Mr. Goodell.
I try to be optimistic, this though is a situation that is completely unacceptable and we are all rendered completely powerless. The league's power, much like its commissioner's rule have jeopardized a complete season of NFL football over what seems to be chump change to them. It's not like we aren't all buying gear and going to games anymore. They are raking it in. Hand over fist.
Let's just hope the man upstairs is looking out for all our striped friends in the coming week and that the San Francisco 49ers nor any other team (ok well maybe Green Bay) have to be the scapegoats to get these real refs who we normally complain about every week back on the field. OK not even Green Bay. They deserve fairness too.
P.S. Can't Ed Hochuli just arm wrestle Roger Goodell over the terms so we can be done already?
