The NFL today stood firmly by the ineptitude of the replacement officials. Its front office has no regard for the widespread dissent over the bad officiating that has been costing teams games, however unfairly. My prognosis is that the bad officiating will continue. The public outcry will also continue to grow. At some point, NFL's board of directors, stockholders or other powers that be will have no choice but to call for the resignation or termination of Roger Goodell.
All of the bogus fines and added or altered stipulations can be traced to Roger Goodell, who seems to think he can run the NFL with an iron fist. From the 35-yard rule to the abusive regulations against "flagrant hits" (as if our teams are playing flag football) and to the underqualified officials, he needs to be held accountable for the denigration of the integrity of the NFL brand.
We need a commissioner who will let the players play football.
