We break down the first half, and open a thread for third quarter discussion.

In case you missed it, the 49ers and Falcons are engaged in a bit of a shootout in the NFC Championship Game. The Falcons head into the second half leading 24-14 as their passing attack is making swiss cheese of the 49ers secondary. Julio Jones is the big name with seven receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Roddy White has added six receptions for 91 yards, while Tony Gonzalez has 45 yards and a touchdown to close the half. Matt Ryan and his receivers are absolutely having their way with the 49ers.

The 49ers did show serious signs of life in the second quarter as they put up a pair of touchdowns. Vernon Davis was your first half star for the 49ers, hauling in four receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown. Colin Kaepernick started slow but had a big 23-yard scramble, and Frank Gore settled in with some solid runs. And of course, LaMichael James got the 49ers first score on the board with a 15-yard touchdown run.

Now, the time is all about adjustments. The 49ers defense in particular needs to figure out what the hell they're going to do about the Falcons passing attack. Ryan was filthy as he lit the 49ers secondary up, and that is going to have to change in a big way.
