Super Bowl 47 ticket prices trending downward

We are officially heading into Super Bowl weekend, and Super Bowl ticket prices are trending downward quite a bit. According to our friends at TiqIQ, the average price for entry now sits at $2,516.19. That number is down 15% since Monday and 21.25% since January 21. At that price point you can get into lower level corner, or a little further over on the 300 level.

The cheapest ticket available on TiqIQ right now is $1,132. That is down 30% since Monday and can get you in the corner sections of the upper deck. They are not fantastic seats, but they get you a foot in the door.

If you are looking to splurge, TiqIQ's highest priced ticket comes in at a cool $11,494, and will get you seated in row 1 of section 223. That is right on the 50-yard line. TiqIQ aggregates prices from various sites, and as I was poking around the pricing, I noticed that somebody else was selling a similar ticket on another site for $10,887.

Super Bowl ticket prices on Thursday of game week

The Super Bowl is only a few days away, and Super Bowl ticket prices remain lower than last season. This year's game is currently 29.64% lower than the Super Bowl last season on this date. If you are still scrambling for Super Bowl tickets, the current "get-in" price is down to $1,317. For that price, you can get seats in a variety of sections across the south end zone. They are not fantastic seats, but they get you in the door to watch the 49ers take their shot at Lombardi No. 6.

TiqIQ's current average price sits at $2,802. If you're in that range, you could get a a little further around past the end zone in the upper deck, or you could get a corner seat in the lower level. They are not phenomenal tickets, but when you are talking about the Super Bowl, just getting in the door can be pretty sweet.

We'll keep an eye on ticket prices in the coming days as many expect them to continue downward before the weekend hits.

Super Bowl ticket prices continue bouncing around

We are officially a week away from the Super Bowl, and both teams are getting ready to head down to New Orleans for the circus that is game week. The 49ers fly out Sunday afternoon, while the Ravens fly out Monday afternoon. Now that both teams will be getting to town and getting ready to take care of business, it is not entirely surprising that Super Bowl tickets are becoming slightly more readily available.

Over at TiqIQ, there are 5,606 tickets on the market, with the average price sitting at $3,404. This is down from $3,668 a few days ago. It's not a huge change, but it is down a little bit. At that average price, you can get a seat in section 129, row 5.

The least expensive tickets on TiqIQ are $1,849. That will get you seats in either section 626 row 33, or section 625 row 21. Those aren't the greatest seats, but it does get you in the door.

As Super Bowl week develops, there will likely be a broad mix of people desperate to unload tickets, and people desperate to purchase tickets. Prices went down a fair amount during game week last year, but given that the game is in New Orleans this year and was in Indianapolis last year, I'm not sure we'll see quite the same decline in prices.

Super Bowl ticket prices trending upward

The 49ers and Ravens are still ten days away from meeting up in Super XLVII, and ticket prices are still trending upward. According to TiqIQ, the average price for their available Super Bowl tickets is currently $3,668, which is up a decent amount from yesterday's price of $3,295. People looking to unload tickets are probably not quite desperate enough to unload at a "discount". If you are looking for tickets at that average price, you can get into the lower 100 level seats, but you will be looking at a corner seat.

The least expensive tickets on TiqIQ are currently $1,931, which is actually down a little bit down from $1,975 yesterday. It is still expensive, but it is a slight improvement. That price will get you into section 628, row 35. TiqIQ aggregates prices from different Internet sites, with a lot coming through eBay. It is amusing to note that somebody else is offering tickets in section 628, row 40 for $2,074 per ticket. They might want to check TiqIQ for a better idea of the market!

It will be interesting to see how prices trend during Super Bowl week, as buyers and sellers could both get a little bit desperate.

Super Bowl ticket prices rising

The Super Bowl is still two weeks away, but the emotion of the conference championship games has kept prices rolling along. According to TiqIQ, if you want Super Bowl tickets, the average price is sitting at $3,301. This is up 7% since last night. Their cheapest ticket is $1,782, which is down from $1,890 immediately after the AFC title game wrapped up.

It is not surprising that there would be a quick upsurge immediately after the game. It will be interesting to see if ticket prices climb any more, particularly as sanity returns a bit in the coming days. Next week, I could see a mix of either last minute desperation to score some tickets pushing prices up, or desperation to unload tickets, pushing prices down. My guess is the latter.

If you want to just get in the door, the $1,782 price will get you in both end zones, at the very top of the Superdome. I suppose that high up it might not matter where you are sitting in the upper deck. If you are looking to pay that "average" cost of $3,301, you could get in section 109, row 33.
