The San Francisco 49ers suffered a tough injury early in their Week 6 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, as nose tackle Glenn Dorsey left with a hamstring injury. Dorsey went down early in the first quarter, and was quickly helped off the field. He was stretched out a bit on the sideline, before being announced "questionable" to return. Tony Jerod-Eddie has taken over at nose tackle.

The 49ers lost starting nose tackle Ian Williams earlier this season with a broken ankle, and Jerod-Eddie is the only real backup option. Given the lack of depth, I imagine the team will do whatever it can to keep Dorsey out of the game. They cannot afford to see him aggravate that hamstring and miss extended time.

Speaking of which, the 49ers do have a potential reinforcement waiting in the wings. Rookie defensive tackle Quinton Dial started the season on the NFI list, and is eligible to start practicing after Sunday's game. The team does not need to activate him right away, but once he starts practicing they will have three weeks to activate him. Given the injury to Dorsey, we might see him sooner rather than later.
