Candidates - the unlikely ones for now
Aldon - obviously not yet
Crabtree - we know he isn't ready yet
Lattimore - already have a crowded backfield and no reason to push him
Marquardt - Not needed now and comfortable on PS salary - wait for next year
Moody - not eligible yet and not really needed as opposed to other positions
Patton - not ready yet but can be considered for IR if he's not improving
The real contestants to come back this week
Dial - I didn't think he had a chance until Dorsey got hurt. Depending on how soon Dorsey is expected back will determine how soon this move can take place. Dial is a raw rookie with no experience including practice. Would he be superior to Jerod-Eddie? I doubt it, but I would make this move to give him some work because we may need him down the road. Top candidate to cut - Cunninghan, Stupar, Harper.
Carradine - recent comments imply he's ready and able but is he needed? He would have to replace someone like Dobbs or one of the inactives. Dobbs has the benefit of experience and we need him now. Carradine has never even practiced with the big guys. Just to give him work, we should cut one of the others above because we need to get this guy involved as soon as possible.
Manningham - if he's healthy, this is a no-brainer. Even if he needs a few weeks to get up to speed and is kept on the inactive list, I'd want him practicing until he's ready. He replaces someone like Moore.
Wright - Another no-brainer if he's healthy - we never did hear why he was put on the NFI list. If he's ready, we cut Asomugha as there is nothing to lose there. An option would be to move Morris to the PS, but given how that turned out with Cooper, I doubt they'll try it.
