The San Francisco 49ers have their first media-present practice on Wednesday, but they also had a session earlier today. 49ers digital media coordinator Taylor Price described it as a walkthrough, but did say the players worked up a sweat at it.
Q: Do you expect to be a full go in practice tomorrow?
MM: No. I just got cleared yesterday, man! I can't do a whole practice. I'll ease my way into it.
Q: You guys have a Bye in three weeks. Are you looking at that as your last warm up before you return to the field?
MM: I'm not sure because I'm don't know how I' m going to feel next week. If I feel good, I might play. If I don't, I'm not going to play. I'm not putting a time limit on there. I'm just taking it day by day.
Although Manningham did not confirm a specific return, after the bye week would seem to make a lot of sense. Even if his knee is 100 percent, he is still going to need to get into game shape. He can work out plenty, but the combination of the stop and start nature of the game, plus just taking hits, is something that will take some time to get back into the swing.
Eric Wright also returned, and had this to say:
Eric Wright: "I am healthy enough to play at this point of the season."— Taylor Price (@TaylorPrice49) October 15, 2013
While we don't know exactly where Manningham is with his knee, we know even less about Wright's status. We don't know the injury or situation that got him on the NFI list, so we are left to wait and see how this week and beyond develops.
Matt Barrows had this tweet about Quinton Dial and Tank Carradine:
The 49ers defensive line depth is struggling mightily, so getting Dial and Carradine on the active roster is essential. I suspect they will be spending a whole ton of time on the field with Jim Tomsula and Vic Fangio. I imagine Jim Tomsula lives for this kind of stuff.
