After watching Frontline the other night concerning CTE, I have come to the conclusion that the NFL Helmet is probably due for a new redesign. Although I am personally not convinced that CTE is caused by pro football. (probably caused by a combination of variables and factors) poor nutrition, drugs and inactivity after a players career is over. I still believe that the helmet should be redesigned to lessen the probability of concussion. I figure the main problem is the outer shell. Helmets in the first place are not designed for person to person contact, but for person to stationary object contact. ie. (Motorcycle helmet). By applying a rubber donut or halo to the top of every helmet, along with rubber strips could cut down on the force of impact of helmet to helmet contact and reduce the number of blunt force concussions in the NFL. Maybe the NFl should look into it.
