Jake Locker takes majority of snaps in Titans individual portion of practice

Titans QB Jake Locker is getting a lot of work this week. Will he be able to overcome his hip and knee injuries to play against the 49ers? New to Niners Nation? Sign up here and join the discussion!

The Tennessee Titans continue to get practice reps for both of their quarterbacks leading up to Sunday's Week 7 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt had some comments about Jake Locker's work alongside Ryan Fitzpatrick during the individual portion of practice:

The Titans seem intent on playing this out all the way until kickoff. We don't know what kind of reps Locker is getting in the team portion, which has me wondering how much of a con this is. After all, they know the media will report on the extra reps from the individual portion, but can't assess where he is in during team drills.

I do think the Titans want to see what they've got with Locker this week. They know what Fitzpatrick can do (or can't do as the case may be), so see what they have with Locker in individual work, and then go with Fitzpatrick on Sunday. I have been plenty wrong before, but that's just how I see this playing out. With the Titans bye coming up next week, wouldn't they want to get Locker that extra week of rest to get closer to 100 percent?

Maybe I'm wrong, but logic would seem to dictate that. Of course, Ryan Fitzpatrick handling the QB duties can make a team consider the illogical!
