The San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans released their first practice participation reports on Wednesday, and we have a few players of note. For the 49ers, the only non-participant was offensive tackle Anthony Davis. He is dealing with a shoulder injury, and was listed as questionable last week. He played against the Rams, so odds seem good he will play this week. Given the Texans pass rush, he will be needed.
The 49ers welcomed Nnamdi Asomugha and Patrick Willis back to practice. They are not locks to play, but getting back on the practice field is a big help. Justin Smith already said he was expecting Willis to play, so we'll see how that plays out. As for Nnamdi? Well, I was hoping for another week of Tramaine Brock after his solid effort last week, so we'll just have to wait and see what the rest of the week brings.
Joe Staley also hit the practice field, listed as a "Full Participant". That designation means a player has an injury, but as it states, participated in full. 100 percent healthy players are generally not listed on the injury report.
On the Texans side of things, Brian Cushing is the most notable absence. He sat out practice as he recovers from a concussion suffered in the third quarter last week against the Seahawks. Earlier in the week it sounded like Cushing was likely good to go for Sunday, but he still has to get through the concussion protocol. We'll see what his status is the next two days.
