Despite being healthy, LMJ was inactive for a second straight game. Now I like LaMichael James. I believe he can make an impact. It's just not going to be with the 49ers. Why? Go back to when they drafted him in the 2nd round of last year's draft. The 49ers top two picks (AJ Jenkins and LMJ) were drafted to add speed to the 49ers offense.
But let me ask you this: if the 49ers offense were a vehicle, would it most resemble a steam-roller or a ferrari? A big rig or a maserati? You know the answer, and we're not running the second coming of the 'greatest show on turf' here.
At our core, we are a power run football team that throws the ball deep, and we don't call enough quick slants, screens, or check downs justify LMJ wasting away on our roster. So what do we do with him? He's a fine prospect that works well in space and could develop into a slot receiver or return man somewhere else.
I say trade him for a position we desperately need depth at - wide receiver.
