The San Francisco 49ers are back home this week to face the St. Louis Rams, in a rematch of the 49ers easy 35-11 win earlier this season. While the 49ers are getting healthier, and coming off a solid win, they're facing a Rams team that is surging the last two weeks. I don't expect a 49ers blowout, although I certainly wouldn't turn it down!
The line for this game opened with the 49ers as high as 10.5 point favorites. However, it has already come down to 8.5 points in some places. The Rams have won two straight in convincing fashion. Their defense is surging, and they seem to finally be figuring out how to use Tavon Austin. Kellen Clemens hasn't been good by any stretch, but since the loss to Seattle, he has avoided making mistakes. Game manager 101!
I still think the 49ers are better than them and can cover this spread, but if I was a neutral observer, I don't know that I would touch this game with a ten-foot pole. I don't view it as a trap game before Week 14 vs. the Seahawks, because I have to think the 49ers see this Rams team playing well. But I just don't know what to make of this game.
How do you view this game in light of how the two teams have performed in recent weeks?
