The San Francisco 49ers announced three roster move Tuesday afternoon. The team placed defensive tackle Tank Carradine on injured reserve, signed guard Ryan Seymour off the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, and signed wide receiver Devon Wylie to the practice squad.

The Tank Carradine move is a bit odd, but I suppose not really a surprise at this point. Tank was activated off the Non-Football Injury list midway through the season, but there were some reports his rehab was still an issue. One report indicated the team effectively re-started his ACL rehab after the draft. If that is the case, I'm a little confused why they took him off the NFI list and took up a roster spot. He also never made an appearance on the injury report. This would seem to infer the ACL was fine, but something was amiss.

Seymour joins the 53-man roster, after spending the season in Seattle. He was a seventh round draft pick who spent the season on their practice squad. His addition likely means Mike Iupati is going to continue to miss some time. Adam Snyder remains the starting left guard in his place, but the team likely wants a little more depth in case of injury. They avoided it when Joe Staley hurt his knee, but I'm guessing this is a little bit of "better safe than sorry".

The Wylie addition fills the open spot due to Michael Thomas' departure for the Miami Dolphins. Wylie was a fourth round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012. He made the roster but was not used all that frequently. He was released prior to the start of the 2013 season. He then spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers practice squads this season. He then ended up on the Tennessee Titans practice squad before getting some time on their active roster in a couple games. He was subsequently released.
