The San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their first injury reports for Week 15, and we have a few notable names to discuss. The Wednesday report always has more issues than Thursday and Friday, as Wednesday is often a rest day for veterans. However, there are still some players worth discussion.
The 49ers listed Michael Crabtree as limited with an ankle injury. Crabtree was involved in a fairly acrobatic catch midway through the first quarter. I don't think this was the ankle injury, but Crabtree did come up a little bit gimpy after this play:
This was an absolutely spectacular catch. After the play Crabtree came up gimpy, but he obviously finished the game. If this is not connected to his ankle injury, it actually might be a positive result (beyond just the catch). It looks like he landed hard on his side. He limped off, but finished out the game relatively fine.
For now though, the team took it easy with him on the practice field. There's no need to overdo it at this point. Here's a closer look at the end of the catch. This is why he's a beast receiver:
There aren't a lot of surprises in the rest of the injury report. Mike Iupati made his return to practice in limited fashion. We'll see how his week develops. Tarell Brown was once again a limited participant, but the good news is that he was not wearing a blue non-contact jersey. My guess is he is inactive this week, but he's clearly taking an important step forward.
Here are the full practice participation reports for Wednesday of Week 15.
