Ladies, Gentlemen and assorted others, welcome to the General's Battlewagon meeting! Hopefully last week you were able to get to know that rookie WR that we are so hyped up about so much just a little better.
This week let's talk about what is really important: getting Quinton Patton activated. Last week Mario Manningham had 4 targets and caught none of them (not all his fault) and played a total of 16 snaps. Now, knowing this as well as knowing that MM is still nursing a knee injury, I challenge Harbaugh to give Patton a chance.
There are those nay-sayers who will say that Patton isn't playing because of his "lingering" foot injury or some other rookie-not-ready nonsense. After all, what has he done this year? In one quarter of starting, he only got one reception. What can a mere rookie do that Manningham, a good WR, cannot?
First, QP is no "mere" rookie; he has the skills and drive to get open and make plays. Second, MM is not near 100%; just look at his play over the past two weeks! There is something going on with his knee, and while I respect Mario for fighting through it, it is time to give him a week off. It is time for our coaches to overcome their psychological fear of allowing rookies to make their mark on the 49ers.
In short, it is time for Harbaugh to give the General his shot.
We are the General's Bandwagon, and we can do whatever we want!
