The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks released their first practice participation reports of the week, and we have some intriguing news. Wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Quinton Patton do not appear on the injury report. Crabtree is not a surprise, but it's good to know he did not aggravate anything in his return to the field last week.
The Patton news on the other hand is a pleasant surprise. Patton returned to practice last week in limited form. The team very well could have listed him as a "full participant", but they did not even include him there. That would seem to indicate he is officially over his foot injury. It remains to be seen if he will play on Sunday, and even if he plays, we don't know how many looks he'll get with Crabtree back in the rotation. But it's a big step forward.
In other news, Tarell Brown was back at practice. He was listed as limited today, but that's an improvement on last week's three DNPs. Tight end Vance McDonald joined Mike Iupati, Justin Smith and Joe Staley as DNPs for Wednesday. He is dealing with an ankle injury, so we'll see how that develops over the course of the week.
For now though, the 49ers will have some game-day roster decisions to figure out. Their inactives last week were Quinton Patton, Tarell Brown, Quinton Dial, Mike Iupati, Jon Baldwin, Garrett Celek and Tank Carradine. Celek was a full participant, and I imagine if he is full the whole week, Derek Carrier's status will depend on McDonald's practice time this week. My early guess is Patton will be inactive, but we'll have to wait and see.
