On the 49ers side of things, Joe Staley was back at practice. It was a surprise to see him back, as he reportedly suffered a sprained MCL last Sunday. He is not a lock to play on Sunday, but this is certainly a big step in the right direction. We discussed this a bit more earlier this afternoon.
The only 49ers player to sit out practice on Thursday was Mike Iupati. He continues to rehab his own sprained MCL, which clearly was worse than that of Staley. Iupati seems highly unlikely to play at this point. It sounds like he is walking better, but the team seems content to take their time getting him back closer to 100 percent.
On the Seahawks side of things, linebacker/defensive end Bruce Irvin is sidelined with a thigh injury. He played against the Saints, but has missed the last two days of practice. Pete Carroll expects him to play on Sunday, but this will be something to watch. Also, Brandon Browner is listed as limited with a groin injury. He got in a limited workout on Wednesday, but hd to sit out Thursday. He is in the midst of appealing his substance abuse suspension, but it seems like he needs more time to rehab his groin.
