I was curious to see Niners Nation fan reaction to the Kaepernick pick 2 years ago. This is not to pick anyone out or make fun of anyone, I just thought it would have some nice entertainment value. I have cut some things out of posts that I didn't think were relevant in order to keep it short. My first fan post, so please forgive my formatting. These are a few of the things being said:
Kaepernick ranked 21st on NinersNation big board
Ponder was my first pick at QB but I like Kaep too, so I’m pleased with the pick as long as he sits and they don’t Alex Smith him.

Never a fan of Kaepernick, just hate his mechanics, but I hope he proves me wrong.

By the time you’re ready to start we’ll have another receiver or two, and the new offensive line will have bedded in. Iupati will be a Pro Bowler. Until then, just let Alex take all the hits. That’s what we’ve been doing the last six years anyway.

harbaugh saw him at this pro day, at another time close to that and then here. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaepernick is our 2nd round pick.

Kaepernick's accuracy dramatically improved over his last 16 or so games
So, I think he’s a little short-changed in all of the QB formulas, but I’m extremely psyched to have him aboard.

The best QB in the draft was available in Mallet. He has the best abilities out of them all, and will not a complete waste lake Kaepernick will be. I hope harbaugh didnt have a lot to do with this draft, because if he did that isnt a good sign of things to come.

Kaepernick has as much chance of being a Pro Bowl quarterback
Kaepernick, I think is an excellent chioce, you can tell just watching him in public, watching him play, he’s going to be good, if he puts everything he has into it.

OMG
WE GOT CK!!!! I missed everything yesterday and seeing this just made my day! Sure he might take a couple of years but you can’t rush greatness!
I have been saying second round Kaepernick since the beginning of the mocks!

Newton > Kaepernick
If he was still there in the second round I’d still take Newton over Kaepernick. Their physical tools and athleticism are comparable on an exceptional level, however, Newton’s mental composure I think is truly his most compelling feature.

I'm probably...
more excited about seeing Tolzien in the offseason than Kaep. I like Kaep okay and I understand he could have Cam Newton or Michael Vick levels of upside.
But I just like Tolzien. I see him in the pocket and I see the Niners’ future. I was giddy when the Niners picked him up after the Chargers cut him.
Absolutely giddy.

I live in Reno...
…and I’m of the opinion that I would not be comfortable with him as our QB of the future. Up until this year, his throwing motion and accuracy, especially on deep throws were very much in question.
My problems with him begin on his ability to be accurate when he tries to rifle a pass. The harder he throws, the less accurate he is (duh, I know). Although he’s got great speed and awareness when it comes to running, he is very long and lean, and his lack of bulk in the NFL would concern me. Lastly, and most importantly, I don’t believe Kaepernick has EVER TAKEN A SNAP FROM UNDER CENTER. Working exclusively out of the pistol at NV, he has no experience taking a snap. That’s not the end-all-be-all for a college QB making a transition to the pros, I know. But given our recently completed Alex Smith Experiment, I would feel much more comfy drafting a QB with pro set experience. Not to mention the overall lack of competition in the WAC.

49er QB.
I think Kaepernick would be a good fit for the Niners, big, tall , good arm., fast , runs with big strides, West coast offense would work well with him.

In short, I think that Kaepernick actually has the most upside out of any QB in this years class.

Kaepernick
I am really not a fan of his, i don’t think he fits into the WCO in terms of the slant passes and accuracy. I will have to see something from him during the Senior Bowl and combine to be proved otherwise.
