Frank Gore turns 30 years old this May, and even though he had a solid year, and I wish he could player forever, it's time we got serious about finding a long-term replacement for him. I'm not convinced that Kendall Hunter or LaMichael James can take the pounding that goes with being an every down back. They're more of a change of pace than a slashing power-runner like Gore. As for Anthony Dixon, his carries went down (again) this year, and I expect him to be released in the coming months.
So who should the 49ers look at drafting? They've got 14 picks this year, and I'm totally okay with them using a 2nd or 3rd round pick on an Eddie Lacy, Giovanni Bernard, Stefan Taylor, or Montee Ball.
