I'm watching an NFL Network thing on Marcus Allen that is going over how he was basically trapped in Oakland with Al Davis refusing to play him. Its pretty ridiculous how little they used such a good running back. Moving him to full back for four years? Then bringing in Roger Craig and Erick Dickerson and making him fourth on the depth chart?

Anyways, it got me wondering what free agency was like in the past. I know it became a big deal the year Reggie White got to sign, but I have no clue what it was like before....so what was it like?
