Fooch's Note: Interesting look at the 49ers and the age of the roster.
Interesting. Contribution-adjusted age of each NFL team.
The authors use some incredibly complex metric to measure every player's contribution to scoring points, then takes those weights and applies the age of those players.
Seattle is the youngest, followed by Cleveland. The Steelers, Chargers, and Falcons are all very old. The future appears bleak in San Diego: Rivers is 32, and will be 35+ by the time they're competitive again.
The 49ers are of average age, but it's a bit misleading: only two starters are in their 30s. The entire team is in their late 20s, which is interesting. But do we need to get younger? Perhaps.
Drafting two safeties at No. 31 and No. 34 would get us younger and put us on a better footing for the future – just a thought. Maybe a "starting" NT rookie too, or a Center. I could see some vets getting cut in camp.
