New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has been the subject of plenty of trade rumors, although the San Francisco 49ers have been the only team specifically mentioned in connection with him. The 49ers reportedly decided not to pursue him further, although we know how quickly things can change.
Now we get this video. Revis made an appearance on Seahawks RB Michael Robinson's YouTube show, and had a chance to discuss a variety of topics. The subject of the 49ers came up, and Revis did say it would certainly be "awesome" to play for the 49ers. That response came when asked about whether going to San Francisco would help him achieve his goal of winning a Super Bowl. Robinson asked him if it would help him, and if adding Revis would get the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
Revis was quite humble about the situation, stating that the 49ers did a great job without him, and he would "just be an addition" to help them win the Super Bowl.
This indicates Revis would be interested in playing for the 49ers, but obviously there is a lot more to it than just player interest. The 49ers have to be willing to give up the pick(s), and then of course there is the potential for a long-term contract extension. Darrelle Revis reportedly wants to be paid like one of the best defensive players in the league. That would get into serious eight figures per year, and it remains to be seen if the 49ers will make that happen.
And I will only partially judge Michael Robinson for repeatedly using the word Frisco!
