Title basically sums it up. With the rumors starting to circulate that the 49ers are interested in trading up, I figured I'd reach out with a poll and see which player the fans think they should trade up for. You don't necessarily have to be in favor of trading up to vote in the poll, as we're assuming that they will trade up for the sake of the poll.
When selecting a player, keep in mind their likely draft position and what it would cost to move up to grab that particular player. For example, you may think the 49ers should trade up for Tavon Austin or Kenny Vacarro. You have no preference (safety is a bigger need), but the 49ers would likely have to trade up to #11 or #12 to get Austin, while they could possibly just slide in front of the Rams at #15 to grab Vacarro. Trading up to get Austin would cost more, so this is something you should take into account.
While your opinion of the player matters (you might be higher on said player than others), the most important think to take into account is the likely draft position. You may have Player A as a Top 5 pick, but if most people have him going at 10-15, use that as a benchmark of sorts. Obviously, none of these "experts" know what teams are going to do, but it's easier to go off of group-think here, rather than everyone have their own idea of where a player will go (i.e. Person A says Player X goes in the top 5, Person B says Player X goes around #25)
My Top 3
1. Sheldon Richardson- While he doesn't fill the biggest need, I think he's a player that would get plenty of snaps and be the eventual replacement for Justin Smith. Does everything well and has versatility.
2. Kenny Vaccaro- Would fill the only opening starting job, and would excel.
3- Star Lotulelei- Just like with Richardson, he'd give the 49ers much needed depth on the d-line, and could be the eventual replacement to Justin Smith. He's not the same pass rusher as Richardson, but he's an animal against the run and plays with the intensity Jim Harbaugh loves.
