What's up everybody, the draft is only a few days away so this is our last chance to pretend we know what we're talkin about. While I think the mid 1st round trade up is just noise, I'm cool with it if we grab Richardson, but definitely not for Vaccaro, too much talent at safety a round or two later. I've tweaked my first stab at this a little to account for guys moving up and down the board, and to make room for some new favorites because that's what these mocks are all about- names, numbers, and highlight tapes that interest and excite us.
Rd. 1 - DE Tank Carradine. There are questions about his size but with us he finds the perfect situation and coaching staff to make it work. If Datone Jones falls I'd take him but I think he's gone and there's a chance Tank is swooped up too.
Rd. 2 - Best CB Available. Yes we already have an army of corners but look at who's signed past this season and tell me we don't need another. The guy we draft depends on our plans for our future free agents- if we're looking for a big body then Johnthan Banks could be the guy, but if we're in need of a slot man we could take Jamar Taylor. DJ Hayden is the wild card if they think his heart won't explode again.
Rd. 2 - SS D.J. Swearinger. See below.
Rd. 3 - FS Bacarri Rambo. Since they both can play FS, whoever is more ready between Swearinger and Rambo will start this year but by year two, D.J. at strong and Bacarri at free. The coverage skills of this safety duo would be sick and we wouldn't be giving up physicality.
Rd. 3 - WR Da'Rick Rogers or Aaron Dobson. Both are the big downfield threat that we need. Like with our corners, the future at receiver is uncertain and I expect Crabtree to be a little princess and chase the money.
Rd. 4 - TE Chris Gragg. Yea we just signed Morrah but that doesn't mean we can't try to do better.
Rd. 4 - OT Jordan Mills or Chris Faulk. Our tackle depth is slim and this could keep Boone at guard if we get an injury on the outside. I like Quessenberry but I think he's gone a lot earlier than some expect.
Rd. 5 - NT Kwame Geathers. Competition for Dorsey and Williams.
Late Round Luxury Pick - KR/PR Ace Sanders. If he's the next Devin Hester, awesome. If he's not, oh well. It's a late round shot in the dark and we have guys on the roster that can get the job done.
Like I said before, I'd be shocked if more than one of these picks matches up with the real deal because it's not an exact science and Jim and Trent are nuts. So take it for what it's worth, have some fun, and Happy Monday.
