Golden Nuggets: Niners Nation, Welcome Eric Reid

49ers choose to draft based on cutest kid this year. - Al Bello

Friday, April 26, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.

Well the wait is finally over and we learned two things yesterday. Firstly, we know who the 49ers selected in the draft and secondly, we know who's playing free safety for us next year. Eric Reid, formerly of the LSU Tigers is a name that had been linked to the team as soon as the offseason got under way and it became apparent we weren't going to keep Dashon Goldson. I'm pleased with the selection, though I was surprised we traded up to get him. He is the type of player the 49ers love to have, but with so much safety depth in this draft, much of it slated to go off the board around the time of our first two picks, I didn't think we'd be moving up for one. Luckily we didn't give up much to move up the 13 selections to get the guy our FO wanted, and with all the draft capital the team owns, we could afford to do it. Then the Cowboys made a shocker of a pick in our place. Thanks Jerry.

To the links, cause there's tons of them and they're all about one man. I'm doing them in the order that I find them and not really commenting.
