What's Left on Day 3

Unlike some people, I am all for taking picks so long as there is still someone left who could improve our team...either as a starter, a backup, a depth player, a special teams player or for the practice squad/developmental squad. This draft was not blessed with some superstar ball handlers in the WR/RB/QB positions. But it has proven to be an extraordinarily deep draft in a number of positions. So, with seven more picks to do something with, I though we might want to see what we might still want to get and what's still out there.

Wide Receiver - with several of our WRs scheduled to be FAs soon, we might be needing to see about developing some players for the future.

  • Quincy Patton
  • Da'Rick Rogers
  • Ryan Swope
  • Cobi Hamilton
  • Denard Robinson
  • Marquis Wilson
  • Aaron Mellette
  • Brandon Kaufman
  • Mark Harrison
  • Ace Sanders
Safety - We have Reid to replace Goldson. But we still have a future opening at SS, when Whitner becomes a FA next season. Developing a replacement is mandatory. We may already have someone in place for him, but we may need to draft another.
  • Phillip Thomas
  • Shamarko Thomas
  • Baccari Rambo
  • Duke Williams
  • Josh Evans
  • Robert Lester
  • Earl Wolff
  • Tony Jefferson
  • Jamoris Slaughter
  • Drew Frey
  • John Boyett
Cornerback - With six CBs on the roster, it is fairly unlikely any new CB will get much playing time. However, it does not mean we cannot find some one better than Brock or Cox who are last on the depth charts. And with virtually are entire CB list becoming FAs next year or potential cap casualties (Rogers), it would seen likely we would take a fly on some sort of CB.
  • Sanders Commings
  • Jordan Poyer
  • B.W.Webb
  • Marc Anthony
  • Terry Hawthorne
  • Micah Hyde
  • Steve Williams (slot CB)
  • Khalid Wooten
  • Rod Sweeting (slot CB)
DT / NT - We are seemingly moving farther away from a 3-4 and into a 4-3. But having a strong middle presence to stuff the run and occasionally put pressure on the QB is always a good thing to have and always something we HAVE had.
  • Akeem Spence
  • Montori Hughes
  • Kwame Geathers
  • Jesse Williams
  • A.J. Francis
  • Quentin Dial
  • William Campbell
  • T.J. Barnes
  • Josh Boyd
Swing Offensive Tackle - Last season we had Leonard Davis as our swing tackle and he did a marvelous job. We could always attempt to resign him again. He knows our system and is a virtual lock to do the job well again. But even if we did do that, we need a person who can do that in the future. Do we trust that job to Netter and Wiggins?
  • Reid Fragel
  • Oday Aboushi
  • David Bakhtiari
  • David Quessenberry
  • Jordan Mills
  • Xavier Nixon
  • Ricky Wagner
  • Chris Faulk
  • Vinston Painter
  • Luke Marquardt
  • Garrett Gilkey
  • Emmett Cleary
  • Braden Brown
Running Back - We really don't need a RB, but may want to pick one we can develop to replace Gore as he reached the end of his career soon.

Is there anyone you would add to any of these lists? Is there another position you think we should create a list for? Is there anyone on these lists you especially like and would want to share why? Is there anyone on any of these lists you especially dislike and would like to share why?
