2013 NN NFL mock draft: With the ninth pick, the New York Jets select ...

The Niners Nation Community Mock Draft moves to pick No. 9, which belongs to the New York Jets.

The 2013 Niners Nation NFL mock draft continues to roll along to pick No. 9. A few things came up so we didn't get this pick up in the AM as planned. We'll get at least one more pick up before the end of the day. For now, the always entertaining New York Jets are on the clock. Their decisions are being made by EastBayNinerFan. With the ninth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Chance Warmack, offensive guard, Alabama.

Expectations: Warmack provides the chance for a mediocre offense to upgrade it's protection and run help in a single blow. Without a top tier QB or RB the Jets need some help making those guys better. The best way to make their offensive weapons better is to protect them and make some holes for them.

Gang Green has been debating this for weeks, and the general consensus is that an OG will help more than any other single position, and would also be a move for the future to have a stronger O-line going forward. 61% of voters in a recent poll they had think O-line IS the best place to start, even though the No. 9 pick might be a little high for this pick. Most would like to trade back into the teens and still draft O-line there, but try to pick up an extra pick along the way. What they are all really hoping for is the Revis trade to go through before the draft and get themselves another 1st rounder at (No. 13) where they would take the O-line player.

And of course, with a new OG Mark Sanchez has one more guy to help him out with those "special" fumbles!

Trevor Woods: The Jets are going to have to shift their offensive philosophy next season, and snatching Warmack could help that. With David Garrard or Mark Sanchez likely to be the starting quarterback, pass-protection and a run game are very important. Warmack would help them in both areas on offense. It makes a lot of sense to me to draft an offensive lineman in round one, then pick a running back with one of their next two selections. Good pick EastBay. Other choices here could be Jarvis Jones, Bjoern Werner, and Barkevious Mingo.

Nick Chiamardas: EastBay is right, this pick is a bit of a reach BUT it's a perfect fit for the Jets. Most feel pass rusher or OL is the way to go with this pick and with Jordan and Ansah gone, Warmack is a better pick here than taking a risk on Barkevious Mingo. Warmack would be an immediate starter and a perfect fit for the Jets who always promise to return the ground and pound style. I'm not usually a fan of guards going this high but it makes too much sense to be overly critical.
