The general idea is to address our 3 biggest needs (Safety, DE and TE) with the best prospects that we can get, without being "locked". After that take care of the future (CB, SS, WR,...)
#31 - If Vaccaro or Eifert or Datone Jones are still around at #31 get one of them (middle 20's try a trade up - Give our late 3erd, #93). If none of those are available, trade to next years first and a late 2013 second or early third (something between our #61 and #74).
#34 - If Vaccaro is not our first pick, Cyprien at second to solve our biggest issue. If we got Vaccaro at#31 -> Willians is #34
#61 - By now we already have a FS, there are 4 possibilities:
A) If we got (Vaccaro -> Willians) try to solve TE going for someone like (Ertz,Escobar, Kelce,....) OR
B) We got Cyprien and Eifert we need to go for someone like Hunt(may need a trade) OR
C) We got Cyprien and Datone and have to try to solve TE going for someone like (Ertz,Escobar, Kelce,....);
D) we only got Cyprien and need to go for someone like Hunt(may need a trade);
If we got here with the possibility D), we should have something between #61 and #74, we are with Cyprien + Hunt, and still short of a TE, so try to get (Escobar, Kelce,....Ertz will probably be gone here....)
# 74 - Our 3 biggest problems are "addressed" and can try to improve for the future, maybe a CB (Mathieu??), maybe a second Safety (Rambo), maybe a WR, NT.
#93 Will probably be gone for the first pick "upgrade", otherwise trade for a next year second round.
#128 Address another one for the future, CB, Safety or WR.
#131 Address the last "for the future" need CB, Safety or WR.
We would have picked 6 players so far ( First 3 FS, DE and TE - Last 3, CB, WR and SS);
Picks number #157, 175, 180 and 227 would be used as:
1) If needed "make weights" for our trades at the first 3 picks;
2) If they are not used and we our FO sees a great hidden prospect available, to grab that guy. (Lattimore ;'like"???)
3) What's left from 1 and 2 to be traded to 2014 to have the same "flexibility" next year.
Picks #246 and 252 would be used for squad deep at positions we could be in need for the future, those guys probably wont make the 53 roster, but makes the guys push harder at training camp (iron forges iron)
The result of the draft would be:
A) Vaccaro + Williams + one off (Ertz,Escobar, Kelce,....) + Mid rounds (CB, S, WR) + 2 late draft camp guys + 3~4 mid/late round picks 1014;
B) Cyprien + Eifert + (Hunt, or other DE in his "category") + Mid rounds (CB, S, WR) + 2 late draft camp guys + 3~4 mid/late round picks 1014;
C) Cyprien + Datone + One good TE (Ertz,Escobar, Kelce,....) + Mid rounds (CB, S, WR) + 2 late draft camp guys + 3~4 mid/late round picks 1014;
D) Cyprien + (Hunt, or other DE in his "category") + One good TE (Escobar, Kelce,....) + Mid rounds (CB, S, WR) + 2 late draft camp guys + 3~4 mid/late round picks 10141 First and 1 Second round 2014
I thought to even define pick's were i would try to trade up for, something like:
Vaccaro (20 - Bears) - 122 (Vaccaro would be very difficult)
Eifert (23 - Vikings) -32 (Eifert is "doable")
Datone Jones (26 - Packers) + 28 (Very much at reach)
But I would have to put a little more tough on to that,
So,what do you think? Where are the "holes" in that strategy?
