I was watching the NFL Network this evening as I usually do when theres nothing else on television. The show was about the 1981 San Francisco 49ers with players such as Joe Montana, Dwight Clark, Freddie Soloman, Randy Cross, Eric Wright and Ronnie Lott. Even in the 1981 season Bill Walsh had Dwight Clark split out. He would line him up on linebackers that weren't fast enough to keep up with his speed. The more I watched the clips of Dwight Clark and short clips of Vance McDonald made me feel like I was watching the same guy or the guy they envision McDonald to be in the future. Yes, he needs to work on his blocking but at 6'4 (damn near 6'5) 267lbs running a 4.69 40 time he is a walking mismatch on the edges. I have to say he was probably the best fit for our system. I thought we would pick up Gavin Escobar because he had great hands and hands was one of Delanie Walkers weaknesses. I have to say, Trent Baalke is a freakin ninja. Great pickup! I don't think Eric Reid is a Ronnie Lott but I'm sure he'll do some damage. I'm itching for the 2013-2014 season to come around. Go 9ers!
