Inquiring minds need to know. Warning: Offensive.

Howdy, I just have some questions that have to do with the offensive side of the ball. I have enough of a working knowledge of the defensive side of the ball to not sound like a jerk when I pop off, but my knowledge of the offensive side isn't the greatest. I'm quite handy with line blocking schemes (outside of ZBS, I haven't even tried to touch that), and I'm familiar enough with most designed runs (trap, wham, etc.), but my football IQ goes downhill from there.

I was hoping some of you guys could set me up with some information on irregular backfield formations. I can navigate through most of the classic formations and offsets, but some of these newer formations are giving me some trouble. If any of yall have the time to explain some of these progressive formations, I'd love to read through. For instance - the Diamond formation - I can figure out what the strengths of the formation might be, but I'm not quite savvy enough to know the philosophy of the formation. I'm looking for explanations on what type of situations a formation would be used in, the best type of play calls for the formation would be, and what defenses it would both excel against or be crushed by.

Excess information like the type of advanced personnel needed for the crazier formations would be awesome, too. If you want to take the time to explain the specifics of the personnel (ex: Scat Back, Power Back vs. just "RB") I'd love you forever and ever.

Here's to some awesome information, thanks in advance.
