I'll be honest. I don't like A.J. Jenkins. I didn't like him when the 49ers drafted him last year. I didn't like him when he showed up to training camp out of shape. I didn't like him when he couldn't stay on his feet during camp, and I didn't like him when he went the whole year without catching a single pass.
Now despite my dislike of Jenkins, he still has a shot at cracking the depth chart at wide receiver this offseason. It will be tough given how loaded this team is at the position with Crabtree and Boldin as the top two receivers and with Williams and Manningham competing for the #3 spot.
So if Jenkins can't beat out rookie Quinton Patton or practice squad stalwart Ricardo Lockette, I don't see him seeing the field much for a second straight year. If that's the case, the 49ers may want to consider Jenkins at another position like special teams or cornerback in lieu of just outright cutting him.
