I am already failing The Niners Detox Program due to lack of significant football activity for the first time since last July. It is excruciating to wait for the new season to begin. While there are tons of posts & dialogue on the forums to spend time with -- thanks to Fooch et al -- I don't think that's the right drug to get a fix.
Therefore, I am asking you guys to solicit ideas on fun things we can do over the next 4 weeks to get ready for the 2013 season. One idea is to run a Prediction Market to go through all 16 games and see what the community predictions are about Win-Loss record for the upcoming season. We basically go game by game (one game per day) and ask the participants for individual predictions for a set of events including Win/Loss.
Here is the wiki for what a Prediction Market is. In our case, we won't be betting with real/virtual money and we don't have a customized software system to build a market with. We will likely have to make-do with fantasy-money and a Google Spreadsheet. This is not a fantasy league. This is not a poll. Given time & resource constraints, the first iteration will be pretty crude and may not be very accurate. But if it works, we can then try to go big next time around. We can try with as few as a dozen people, but more the merrier.
What do you guys think? Also, please suggest other ideas that can be engaging & fun to get by until Training Camp.
