Is Kaep becoming Willie Beamon?

Now first and foremost I have to put it out there that last season I bought a Kaep jersey, a T shirt that says Kaepernicking, and that Kaepernick #7 tattoo shirt sold by that designer in San Jose. As a fan I go back to 1st grade as I made sure all my grammar school portraits included a Niners jersey. I was all in with Kaep and I still am. I mean if I wasn't in my 30's I'd have a fathead of Kaep in the living room (right next to fatheads of Joe Montana, Tom Rathman, and Patrick Willis of course).

Seeing him all over the place this summer is scaring me a little that he is becoming Willie Beamon from "Any Given Sunday.". For anyone reading this under the age of 35 that did not see the movie "Any Given Sunday" with Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, LT, LL Cool J,, and Jim Brown...a must see if you are any kind of football fan. Wilie Beamon obviously in the movie lets the success go just a little bit to his head, as who can forget his music video by the pool with all the girls surrounding him..."My name is Willie, Willie Beeeaaamon...and I keep all the girls creeeaaammmin."

It scares me, as I want that same passion and fire that took us 5 yards from the promised land. I don't want him to forget that Super Bowl post game interview when he was asked when he thinks the pain would go away after that 4th down play and he said in the most serious of tones "never". I saw intensity with that answer that I assumed at the time would be brought to training camp this year.

And now what do we see all summer, well lets review. Appearances in the box at Golden State playoffs games, SportsCenter highlight throwing out the Giants first pitch at a velocity higher than most pitchers, ESPN body issue, macking for the holiday in Miami style colors that included a Dolphins hat complete with a tweet pic, pics partying at Playboy mansion with Yasiel Puig, Chris Brown, and Snoop Dogg, and lastly the ESPYs in a red coat, huge sunglasses and nuff said.

I can only imagine how many times Harbs has been forced to shake his head as his QB has turned into the latest attraction off the football field. And I'm on the east coast, so I can only imagine the other stuff on a day to day with Kaep in the local newspapers, etc. Now I will still be rocking my Kaep gear as the season approaches, I am just nervous as hell thinking about how it turned out for Willie Beamon in the movie when he turned from backup QB to the starter and Hollywood Star.

Maybe Patrick can tell the young buck to tune it down just a notch. Maybe he is just the next coming of the west coast Joe Namath complete with all the flash and pizzazz. Here is hoping for the best, as I just couldn't help to think of Willie Beamon when I saw Kaep walk that red carpet in the ESPYs looking like he was auditioning for the next super hero flick or something. Nothing would be better to see Kaep hosting that Lombardi trophy in a couple months as sweet redemption. Is it training camp yet or what...Let's Go Niners!!!
