Too early to think of the draft? Welcome to the longest offseason ever!

This offseason has been the longest I've experienced. I am in need of some football, college or NFL. Usually i am enthralled with baseball right now, but for some reason this year is different (no, I'm not a SF Giants). I know that it is only preseason and to talk about the draft is incredibly premature, but it is preseason so what else is there to get your football fix.

During my downtime at work I began to think of the best case scenario for the 49ers in the 2014 draft. Of course I'm hoping that our own pick is 32 of each round. Fortunately Baalke has acquired extra picks with his great bartering skills. If Kansas City goes 8-8 we get a mid second round pick. I can see them going 9-7 or 10-6, still giving us a second rounder. We also possess the Titans third round pick. Wouldn't it be great if the Titans were the worst team in the NFL! That would give us the 65th pick.

Other ways to add to our draft would be the compensation picks. I have no clue how that works, but if Goldson and Delanie Walker have big years we should get a third for compensation. The best scenario for us would be picking from number 32 each round, an extra mid 2nd, and three 3rd round picks. I would be very surprised if a CB and WR were not chosen with the first 5 picks, maybe even multiple of either one.

Of course there is no telling what this season has for us, but I hope it includes a sixth Lombardi for the Red and Gold!
