Watch College Football? How About Scouting 2014 Niners Draft Prospects While You're Doing It?

If you're like me, you like college football but you LOVE professional football and the Niners in particular. I find that I need a little added incentive when I watch college football on the tube. Thus, each fall just prior to the start of the college season I (a) decide which positions on my projected Final-53 Niners roster are likely to need the most help next spring, (b) evaluate and select college prospects most likely to declare for the draft and who play those positions of likely need, and (c) prepare a reference table of those prospects who I should be focusing on when watching a college game. It occurred to me that you all might enjoy having a copy to aid your college game watching as well.

I believe that the Niners will focus primarily on four positions in the draft next May: Cornerbacks, Wide Receivers, Safeties, and Inside Linebackers. Certain players at other positions (offensive line, backup quarterback, nose tackle) could be of interest if still available at any particular pick. The table below lists all of those prospects who I believe could be of interest to the Niners next spring. The table is sequenced by School and lists the Uniform Number of the player together with his position, School Year (Juniors may or may not declare for the draft), Height/Weight, and Projected 2014 Draft round in which the player is expected to be selected as currently projected by NFLDraftScout.

Print the table and keep it by your remote, keep notes on your observations, and you'll be prepared to critique all of the Niners Nation draft posts next Spring. Enjoy.
