Reading comments over the past few weeks, and especially the last week, there is a lot of talk about BJ Daniels. So far this preseason he's the only one of our QB's to throw a TD pass. He looked great, etc. The comments have ranged from "Make BJ the #2" to "He's a scrub...scrub him." (Ok, I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea.)
I'm writing this mostly to the naysayers and doubters. First, yes he's only played against scrubs. However, he played very well in his last drive. In fact, quite a bit better than McCoy or Tolzien. I don't think this means to make him the #2 (not yet), but I think he deserves an honest shot at the position. Move him up to the #3 position and see how he does. If he continues to do well, let him play with the #2's. Let's see how he does. Maybe he bombs it, and maybe he throws some bombs. How will we know how well he can play against better competition if he isn't given the chance?
BTW, I'm in the "I hope he can make #2 but probably will be #3" camp.
