The 49ers are taking on the San Diego Chargers tonight in their preseason finale. We'll be making cuts this weekend and this will be the last chance for the bubble boys to make an impression. Even if they don't make the team, getting that extra game tape for the resume can be a boost for these players. While we can expect very little from the starters, there is plenty to keep an eye on in this final tune-up.
I'm still not certain who will be the No. 2 receiver come Week 1. Kyle Williams was one of the favorites going into camp but has yet to play. Is Marlon Moore really going to start? Who's going to emerge at OLB? Will someone from the backup OL do something to make me think that one of them is useful? What else?
And as per custom on gamedays, if you find some links that come out in the morning, post them in the comments. Thanks.
49ers vs Chargers
49ers.com doesn't usually provide much analysis...they're there more for the access they have with the team, videos, interview transcripts and human interest pieces. But they've done wroten an article. | Top 10 Spotlight: 49ers vs. Chargers (49ers.com)
I really like how 49erswebzone published this post at 12:01 am last night, and it began with "Tonight, the San Francisco 49ers will travel to San Diego.." That's sick. | Gameday: San Francisco 49ers at San Diego Chargers (49erswebzone)
Nnamdi's Revenge
I said it yesterday, but I'll gladly repeat it again today....Nnamdi has been rock solid so far in the preseason and is making me eat my words. Thank Oden my words are on the internet. Eating paper sucks. | He's No. 3: Asomugha has bumped Brock on depth chart (Branch)

Parys Haralson
It was said that Parys Haralson was asking for a trade once he realized where he sat on the pecking order in San Francisco. Man, are people actually sleeping on the 49ers? Here is the MMQB's season preview on our Niners. I understand if someone picks a different NFC team to go to the Super Bowl. I understand if someone picks the Seahawks to win the NFC West (although I disagree). But picking the 49ers to have a regression. I think they don't understand the impact Chad Hall is going to have this year (looks at Fooch for a raise...) | 49ers Preview: Don't Crown Them Yet (MMQB)
I'm still pretty excited that we got Jon Baldwin for A.J. Jenkins. I don't know if he'll last through the year, with Mario Manningham and Michael Crabtree both slated to return mid-season. I wasn't expecting a single thing from Jenkins, so at least Baldwin gives some optimism, if not some production. | Baldwin's Debut Gives 49ers Reason for Optimism (NBC)
The 49ers are ranked 5th among NFL backfields, one behind Seattle. Funny enough, the Rams and Cardinals are bundled together in the bottom three. I really think St Louis' backfield will be what prevents them from fulfilling some of the expectations people are burdening them with. | Ranking the NFL's best backfields (SI.com)
Surely, next season will finally be the year that one of our coordinators gets poached. And perhaps Ed Donatell gets a DC spot. And maybe our ball boy can coach the Jets. | Next man up? Six NFL assistants ready to make the jump to head coach (SI.com)
