The 49ers have several reasons to be excited coming out of the preseason, and one of them is the performance of rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton. The 49ers fourth round pick out of Louisiana Tech missed the first two preseason games with a finger injury, but he made up for lost time with six catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two kick returns of 38 and 31 yards on Thursday.
The emergence of Patton could prove huge for the 49ers on several levels. The big one is the development of the passing game. The 49ers entered training camp with question marks after Anquan Boldin. They leave the preseason with intriguing potential. We don't know how it will pan out over the next four or five months, but I think plenty of us are at least a little excited.
Beyond the in-game performance, the 49ers have a wide receiver who seems to be as boisterous as they come. During campe, Anquan Boldin talked about how Patton was always smiling and outgoing. We could only hear this second-hand, but after two preseason games, we've seen it first-hand. The man enjoys his end zone dances. We've got a GIF combining the two dances together.
Considering these are just preseason touchdowns, imagine what that first career regular season touchdown could bring?
