49ers training camp: Kyle Williams, A.J. Jenkins in full pads for Sunday practice

Jason O. Watson

The 49ers are back in practice as they get ready for Thursday's preseason opener against the Denver Broncos. The team welcomed back Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins to the practice field. We look at the updated injury report.

After a week of what seemed like nothing but injury news, we are getting at least a small sliver of good news today. Per the beat writers, wide receivers Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins were both in full pads for the initial warm-up phase of the 49ers Sunday practice. They were joined by Kassim Osgood and Ricardo Lockette who have been banged up as well. Quinton Patton continues to wear his blue non-contact jersey.

A week ago Saturday, Williams suffered what was described as a hamstring injury, and had been sitting out practice ever since. A.J. Jenkins suffered his own hamstring injury last Tuesday, and had been sidelined since then. The 49ers beefed up their receiver corps in the meantime with the signings of Austin Collie and Lavelle Hawkins.

When the 49ers released their first preseason depth chart, Williams was listed as a starter opposite Anquan Boldin, while Jenkins was listed as the first backup after Boldin. Matt Barrows mentioned that if Williams was unable to go this Thursday against the Denver Broncos, Marlon Moore would get the start in his place. If William is able to practice through Wednesday without any problems, I have to think he at least gets a few snaps on Thursday.

Eric Branch also tweeted that NaVorro Bowman and Aldon Smith were back at practice. It didn't seem like either was dealing with anything serious, but it's good to see them back on the practice field.
